Never lift people on the forksUse a proper integrated working platform or a MEWP, never a pallet.
02
Wear the seat belt, every timeIf the truck tips, the belt keeps you inside the protective cage.
03
Do the pre-use check firstTyres, forks, chains, brakes, steering, horn, lights and fluids before every shift.
04
Know your capacityRead the capacity plate. Longer loads and attachments reduce what the truck can lift.
05
Sound the horn at blind spotsSlow down at junctions, doorways and racking ends, and make yourself heard.
06
Never travel with the load raisedCarry loads low with the mast tilted back. Lift only when stationary at the stack.
07
Keep to site speed limitsDrive at a speed that lets you stop safely, and slower on wet or uneven floors.
08
Take ramps with the load uphillDrive forwards up a slope and reverse down it when loaded. Never turn on a slope.
09
Watch out for pedestriansPedestrians and trucks should be kept apart. Stop if anyone enters your working area.
10
Park it safeForks flat on the floor, handbrake on, controls neutral, power off, key removed.
Where to put it up
Pin it where operators see it before they start: the charging bay, the LPG cage, the key cabinet, the canteen or the site entrance. It also makes a good hand-out for a five-minute toolbox talk.
The poster prints on a single A4 page in colour or black and white. You are welcome to print as many copies as you like for your own workplace.
Train it on your site
Operators to train or certificates to renew?
Tell us which trucks you run and where you are. We train on your premises, on your own trucks, anywhere in the UK.
